#WorldLionDay - August 10th, 2014

by Site Contributor for African Travel & Tourism Association

Marasa Africa, an official supporter of World Lion Day, would like to remind you of the plight of the lion. We have combined forces with our sister company Premier Safaris in order to highlight the plight of the lion.

Nothing quite epitomizes the wildness of the ‘dark continent’ better than the African lion. For hundreds of years the lion has captivated visitors to this ancient land. Over millennia, lions have been at the centre of African mythology and folklore across the continent, and today, continue to influence Africa on a monumental scale.

Having worked in Uganda for over 100 years, we provide some of Uganda’s most impressive safari lodges and are showing our support once again this World Lion Day by donating $1 of every room occupied at 3 of our largest lodges in Uganda on World Lion Day (10th August) to the Ugandan Conservation Foundation. Premier Safaris will also provide lion conservation trips over this period to get a more in-depth understanding of the lion prides within Queen Elizabeth national park.
